Alleged YouTube music ripper sued by industry for copyright infringement 😰😵

Stream-ripping, or the conversion of streamed content into downloadable files, has become a major problem for the recorded music industry, which reports a 50 percent increase in such unauthorized ripping in the U.S. from 2013 to 2015.

The industry in the U.S. sent a message Monday that it aims to stop the practice with organizations representing key record companies filing a copyright infringement and technology circumvention suit against a website called YouTube-mp3 (YTMP3) and its German operator Philip Matesanz in a federal court for allegedly ripping music from YouTube.

The industry rates the website, which is located at the web address www.youtube-mp3.org, as the largest in stream-ripping, with more than 60 million unique users per month.

In the U.K., the BPI, representing local record labels, put the stream-ripping site on formal notice of intended legal action if it does not cease infringing.

The lawsuit, has however been criticized by the Electronic Frontier Foundation for "grabbing for power to conscript Internet intermediaries as content police," as it wants certain orders served on Internet intermediaries like web hosts and domain-name registrars to block access to their routines services to YTMP3 and related websites.

YTMP3 is charged with seamlessly removing audio tracks of videos streamed from YouTube by its users, converting those tracks to MP3 format audio, and copying and storing them it on its servers, according to a complaint filed Monday by record companies including Sony Music and Warner in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The website then distributes copies of the MP3 audio files from its servers to its users in the U.S., enabling them to download those MP3 files to their computers, tablets, or smartphones, according to the complaint, which added that all of this happens without the permission of the music companies or of YouTube.

YTMP3 could not be reached for comment. On its website, it says that its service is completely free. "We need approximately 3 to 4 minutes per video," it added. "Different from other services the whole conversion process will be perfomed by our infrastructure and you only have to download the audio file from our servers," it added on its website.

The industry complaint has, however, been criticized by EFF as it asks the court to enjoin the defendant and all third parties "with notice of the Order, including any Web hosts, domain-name registrars, domain name registries, and proxy or reverse proxy services, and their administrators, from facilitating access to any or all domain names, URLs and websites" through which the defendants infringe the complainants’ copyrights.

The industry also wants the court to enjoin all third parties with notice of the order from maintaining, operating, or providing advertising, financial, technical or other support to YTMP3 and related domain names, URLs and websites, and also want a ban on any app that interoperates with YTMP3 and related sites through which the complainants copyrights are infringed.

"By asking all of those intermediaries to block all 'websites through which Defendants infringe Plaintiffs’ copyrights,' without specifying the URLs, the labels are seeking to conscript all of these companies as investigators who must chase down the defendants and block every website they use, under any name," EFF wrote in its post Monday.

Pakistan in talks with China over NSG entry after India's failed bid

Barely nine days after China sent its top nuclear negotiator Wang Qun to Delhi, his deputy in the Disarmament Department Li Yang was dispatched to Islamabad for talks on September 22.

China and Pakistan have held their first official-level dialogue discussing the latter's aspirations to join the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), signalling that India's path to membership may remain far from straightforward.

PAKISTAN NOW JOINS NSG LINE
Barely nine days after China sent its top nuclear negotiator Wang Qun to Delhi, his deputy in the Disarmament Department Li Yang was dispatched to Islamabad for talks on September 22.

The September-13 talks in Delhi were seen as a sign of Beijing's willingness to finally bilaterally engage with India on the issue of its entry into 48-member grouping.

CHINA SHARED DETAILS WITH INDIA
Beijing had stymied India's entry at the NSG's plenary in Seoul, insisting that the grouping first needed to agree on criteria for entry of all non-NPT countries before discussing India's specific case.

China said after the Delhi talks, on the question of non-NPT states participation in the NSG, given that it is an issue of major concern to India, China, for its part, shared with India the recent developments as it sees within the Group in relation to the question.

China also shared with India its principled positions and views on the above question.

In the meantime, China listened to and had the inputs from India on this issue, and indicated that it will bring such views and inputs back to the Group for its consideration.

CHINA STALLED INDIA TO SEE PAK REACTION
Beijing issued a near-identical statement after the Islamabad dialogue, saying: "On the question of non-NPT states' participation in the NSG, given that it is an issue of concern to Pakistan, China, for its part, shared with Pakistan the recent developments as it sees within the Group in relation to the question.

Some analysts had suggested that Beijing's stance to stall India's entry was because it was keen to draw equivalence between India's and Pakistan's aspirations for the group by insisting on criteria for all non-NPT states.

Its dialogue last week in Islamabad is likely to confirm those suggestions.

Indian targets selected, reply will be strong: Pak 😈😈

Islamabad, Pakistani defence forces have readied an "operational plan" to give a befitting response to any "misadventure from war-mongering India" and targets in India have also been selected for an immediate quid pro quo, a Pakistani daily said on Friday quoting defence sources.

Amid the rise in bilateral temperatures, the daily quoted defence sources as saying, "Pakistan is fully prepared to meet any military challenge from India. Our operational plan is ready, quid pro quo targets are finalised and forces have been dedicated."

The source said that Pakistan would not digest any aggression from India, The News reported.

"India is well aware of our capabilities and also knows the fact that despite the Pakistan Army's participation in internal security issues, a military balance is well maintained to meet any challenge from across the border."

"Whether it is a Cold Start or hot pursuit, we are ready," a defence source said when asked about India's reported preparations to attack selected targets in

Pakistan under the Cold Start war doctrine.

Also Read: Uri Attack: Pakistan will not change

The defence sources quoted by the daily said that Islamabad would not tolerate any air space violation or any ground attack. In case of a surgical attack from India, Pakistan will respond immediately, and for that targets have already been set.

The source also said that in view of Pakistan's defence capabilities and knowing well how Pakistan could respond, India might not go beyond the war hysteria it had created.

The source also said that there were reports that India might go for a terrorist attack in Balochistan through its proxies while using Afghan soil. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah, has said that war between Pakistan and India is not in the interest of anyone.
"Any war in the world is not limited. Pak-India war is not in the interest of anyone."

He went on to say India wants to work on some larger agenda. If war erupts then it will put in jeopardy the region and the entire world.

Mumbai: Vasai fishermen net 10-foot shark, sell it for Rs 22,000

Vasai Koliwada market yesterday became a fish market in the other sense — amused and amazed people and customers flocking to and taking photos of a 10-foot-long shark netted by fishermen from the Vasai-Virar belt and brought there for sale.

The fish that weighed 300 kg was sold for Rs 22,000. Fishermen said that never before "in the history of Mumbai and Vasai fisheries" has such a big shark been hunted. The pregnant fish was caught near the Gujarat border; after failed attempts to escape, it died after giving birth to two pups (baby sharks).

Wasim Khan, who works as a porter in the Naigaon-Vasai Koliwada fish market, said, "I have never seen such a big fish in my life before. It was brought into the market yesterday night and was sold for Rs 22,000."

Activists see red
PAWS Founder Nilesh Bhanage said, "Sharks are protected species. The forest department should take all possible efforts to keep them safe, if found stranded, they should be released back in the sea or ocean with help from experts. They should not be eaten just because they have been found dead." "This looks like a tiger shark, its fin is missing. There is a huge trade of fins carried out all across Asia." he added.

"Sharks are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, in India and even internationally in the IUCN list. They are one of the top predator species facing great threat from humans due to hunting and poaching, mostly for their fin and flesh. The mangrove cell must immediately create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for dealing with marine wildlife management for better protection and conservation," said Pawan Sharma, Founder and President of RAWW (Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare).

A number of experts said that they hoped the mangrove cell would wake up to this and start taking corrective measures.

The fish in the sea
A basic SOP for marine wildlife management is not yet in place since the cell was set up. Dr Vinay Deshmukh, retired principal scientist, Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute said, "It is a tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) as confirmed by Dr SG Raje, who authored catalogue of Indian Elasmobranchs, which encompasses sharks, skates and rays.

Tiger sharks are found in tropical seas all over the world. In the Arabian Sea, they are seen along Angria Bank off Ratnagiri coast. It is highly predatory in nature and eats anything from jellyfish to other smaller varieties of sharks. It wanders solitary in oceanic regions, hunting even dolphins. Tiger sharks are hunted for their fins, skin and teeth. In earlier days, its jaws were displayed as trophies."

Pakistan terror heats up India's war room! 😵😈

Presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the heaviest hitters of Indian state are weighing the gamut of military options - from counterterrorism, cross-border special operations, surgical strikes to a full-blown escalation - to tackle the surge of Pakistani terror, highly-placed official sources said.

On Tuesday night, the prime minister spent an hour-and-a-half at the nerve centre of the Indian Army: the war-room of the defence ministry located in South Block, according to most senior security officials. This centre is also called the military operations directorate.

Modi was briefed from 9.30 pm to 11 pm on Tuesday at the same war room in a meeting attended by defence minister Manohar Parrkar, army chief Gen. Dalbir Singh, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, naval chief Adm. Sunil Lanba, DGMO Lt-Gen Ranbir Singh and national security advisor Ajit Doval, the sources told India Today.

In this top-secret room, the prime minister was shown large maps of key Pakistani installations.

He was given an extensive briefing on intelligence about enemy movements and its plans, the sources said.

Thereon, the PM saw a big sand table depicting Pakistan's topography as he was briefed about Indian military strategies in the event of an escalation, according to top officials.

He was also given the lowdown about the capabilities of the Indian army, air force and navy.

In the highest-profile war-room meeting, almost all options to respond to cross-border terror with an iron fist were discussed, including tough response to any Pakistani retaliation, the sources said.

Plans, highly-placed officials said, were fine-tuned to hit the Pakistani terrorists hardest after their audacious assault on the Uri camp on Sunday.

The Blue Part Of The Eraser Is Not For Erasing Pen Marks. Here’s What It’s For.

We have all used this bi-color eraser back in our primary school days, didn’t we? We’re used to thinking that the blue part of the red-blue eraser is used for erasing pen ink. But has it ever worked? Didn’t we all end up with torn pages after a vigorous attempt of trying to erase whatever we wrote down using a pen?

This information might not be life-changing, but it’s little-know (and totally fun) trivia nonetheless. So read on to find out the real purpose of those double-sided eraser. Once you realize the truth, make sure to tell your kids.
The pink part is actually the delicate part of the eraser so it can be used to erase pencil marks on light paper which will tear easily. The blue part of the eraser was intended for erasing pencil marks on thicker and rougher textures like cards or grainy art paper, hence the rough and grainy texture of the eraser.

It would require you to use more force to erase something written on these rough paper if you’re using a normal eraser (the pink part). That is the real reason for the blue side of the eraser–to easily rub away pencil marks on thicker material with rough textures.

Seven powerful ways India can attack Pakistan – without crossing the border

To my brother officers, troops & those interested in defence of the nation:

In this crowded space when many Generals & other accomplished security experts, like television anchors and page 3 socialites, are offering security advice, in the aftermath of the Uri attack, when cross-border militants killed 18 Indian soldiers, here are some steps that just might help strategically.

1. Stop jingoism designed to play to the gallery

"Covert" Ops are not announced like TV programs, though TV channels undoubtedly want to be the “First to announce” "Covert" attacks.

These operations based in TV studios are designed to get them Television Rating Points and celebrity status. Most TV anchors, politicians & some Generals will fight until the last drop of blood.

Doesn’t help strategically or even tactically.

Keeping the enemy on tenterhooks is far better than a few skirmishes. It forces the Pakistani Army to stay on high alert (huge cost & stress on formations) and forces dilution of troops in their Western border with Afghanistan – thus easing Pakistani pressure on pro-India factions in Afghanistan, allowing them time and space to consolidate and gain momentum.

Keeping Pakistani troops committed in their Eastern border for months, awaiting the anticipated retaliation, is far worse for them than actually carrying out a few raids.

2. Recognise that there are three Pakistans: Pakistani Army, Pakistani politicians & Pakistani people

Devise three different strategies for each faction.

Pakistani Generals want to continue ruling the longest running military dictatorship in the world.

(Pakistan has been a military state since just two years after their independence.

Consider this. Their current Prime Minister when he was Prime Minister last time – sacked the military chief while the latter was mid-air.

Before Pervez Musharraf’s aircraft landed, Nawaz Sharif was deposed, and Musharraf was President of Pakistan. Despite being ousted and charged with nothing less than treason, General Musharraf gallivants the world and even visits India as the chief guest of summits.

If that doesn’t tell you what the real leadership institution of Pakistan is, then stop reading this post and read Alice in Wonderland instead.

3. Generals run Pakistan not their Prime Minister or the politicians.

Recognise which Sharif to apply pressure on. Army Chief Raheel controls Prime Minister Nawaz, not the other way round.

Pakistani Generals are part-time soldiers & full time businessmen. Attack their business interests. Hit Pakistan commercially. Map every export of Pakistan and every market they sell to. Subsidise own products in those markets and undercut the pricing in such a way that Pakistani farmers and small businesses feel the squeeze.

For the cost of less than few fighter aircrafts, India can devastate Pakistan’s commodity export economy.

Leverage India’s global buying power & tell the world they have to choose between Indian or Pakistani market access. They can’t have both.

Every multinational corporation operating in India should get the same message from the government, corporations, and private citizens. Choose where you want to do your business. India or Pakistan.

Now the government may have some challenges in implementing such a strategy because that’s contrary to world free trade agreements, but what stops citizens from boycotting every McDonalds, Coke, Pepsi, Honda, Vodafone, Unilever etc with the simple caveat. If you do business in Pakistan, forget about our wallet shares.

Instead of jingoism on WhatsApp, forgo your Coke. That’s far more effective. You don’t need divisions to wage a war. You can start becoming a warrior yourself!

4. You don’t need to use weapons to win a war. You just need to buy them instead

India is the largest weapons-buying country in the world. This is not because we are arming ourselves suddenly, it is because most of our equipment is now "end of life" cycle and we are replenishing them.

This means that entire asse

Serena Williams forgets to zip up her jacket as she steps out of hotel

Serena Williams seems to have forgotten to zip up her jacket before leaving her hotel.

The brazen US tennis star , 34, was court out as she enjoyed a stroll in Milan, Italy.

She was in town for a charity gala hosted by fellow champ Novak Djokovic, 29.

Last week the tennis ace showed of her super-toned figure as she relaxed on the beach on a well deserved holiday.

Showing off her toned figure, Serena looked amazing in the neon two piece as she jumped up on a wooden deck and let loose during the sun soaked vacation.

It follows a tough summer of tennis for Serena, who lost against Ukraine's Elina Svitolina in the third round and also teamed with her sister in a losing effort to Czech stars Lucie Safarova and Barbora Stryvoca.

That loss ended their career record of 15-0 which dated by the 2000 Olympics, and followed it with a loss to Karolina Pliskova in the US Open semi final .

However, Serena has moved on from that disappointment with the launch of her Diamonds Unleashed collaboration during New York Fashion Week.

Uri attack: Both India and Pakistan have nuclear bombs, why is only India anxious?

The Indian mind, living in its opulence of spirituality and self-belief in all things good, refuses to see the harshness of the truth inherent in the order of the nation states. Every Indian is a yoga guru. Every yoga guru, including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, believes that he can engineer the rise of India as a great power without suffering a wound. But the international society of nation-states is a hostile place. This hostility was on display again on 18 September, when eighteen Indian soldiers were killed and dozens wounded in an attack on the Indian Army camp at Uri, planned, sponsored and executed by Pakistan. This is a known enemy. Every Indian is an anti-Chanakya.
The known enemy attacks us in known ways and in known places. We are taught that Mahmud Ghazni launched 17 attacks on Indian cities during 1000–1027 CE, through known means, through known routes, seizing the Somnath temple in Gujarat in the final invasion. But we are not taught that each time we waited for him to do so, we did not go beyond our borders to prevent him, to tame him, to fight him, to eliminate him. In history, you wouldn't find instances when a known enemy torments an entire people so many times and they don't respond. Much like Mahmud Ghazni, Pakistan, the known enemy, torments us in Jammu & Kashmir. Each time, we have prior intelligence input. Each time, we wait. Each time, we do not engineer a response.
The 18 September attack at Uri is perhaps the worst Pakistani attack since the Kaluchak attack of 14 May, 2002 when three soldiers, 18 relatives of Indian soldiers and ten civilians were killed. On 2 January this year, the enemy stormed the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot, killing seven soldiers. It succeeded because Indian policemen in Punjab were hand-in-glove with the enemies to earn money via illicit drugs routes. Similar attacks have taken place in Jammu & Kashmir regularly. Even after the enemy invaded Kargil in 1999, the largest jihadist war in modern times executed by Pakistan, we chose to serve biryani to General Pervez Musharraf, our tormentor in chief. Both India and Pakistan have nuclear bombs. It is only the Indian mind that feels threatened.
Pakistan the enemy camouflages successfully for modern times. It calls its state-backed terrorists "non-state actors", the world believes in this phrase. It calls its terrorists "good Taliban", it takes years to explain it to Europeans and Americans that "good" in this context means evil. It sends a writer to visit Sufi shrines of Delhi and write a book. Indians develop trust in the author of the book, Delhi by Heart, a title given by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the creator of Jaish-e-Muhammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Taliban. The book's purpose is to insert the author in Track II diplomacy. The enemy sends a saree to the mother of its enemy leader. The cost of the saree is: seven soldiers killed in Pathankot and the bruised confidence of 1.25 billion Indians. In warfare, camouflaging your way into the enemy's defences is a successful strategy. Pakistan does it well.
Lieutenant-General A A K Niazi, the commander of Pakistani troops who surrendered at the fall of Dhaka in 1971, had served during the World War II on the Burma front. In 1964, Niazi, then a brigadier, argued that a weak state like Pakistan must rely on a strategy of infiltration which "implies bypassing of enemy posts by relatively small parties which penetrate deep and unseen into the defences and converge at a pre-designated objective" or "lie down in the enemy area and remain there for extended periods if needed." "The adoption of these [infiltration] tactics by the lesser developed nations like ours is a compelling necessity," he added. Niazi's strategy and the jihadist mindset of the Pakistani army is detailed by C Christine Fair in her book, Fighting to the End: The Pakistan Army's Way of War.
Pakistan has always used this strategy of infiltration and guerrilla warfare either during the Operation Gibraltar that led to the 1965 war, in Kargil in 1999, on 26/11 in Mumbai and later through the attacks by the Indian Mujahideen in parts of India, and consistently, persistently and aggressively through past nearly three decades in Jammu & Kashmir. The behaviour of the enemy is familiar; its strategy is known to us. Even if India were to hand over Kashmir to Pakistan, the nature of the enemy is such that it will begin targeting other regions of India. Despite knowing this enemy, India's strategy to counter it is not ready, not known, not effective, not consequential. But the enemy, like Mahmud Ghazni, will strike again and again. This tactic has Islamic lineage.
In his book, Pakistan Mein Tehzeeb Ka Irtiqa, Sibte Hassan (1912-1986), an Indian-Pakistani Marxist who graduated from the Aligarh Muslim University, narrates how Muhammad bin Qasim was not the first Islamic invader of India. The Islamic attacks against Sindh and Balochistan had begun as early as during the era of Umar ibn Khattab, the second caliph of Islam who ruled from 634 to 644 CE. The first attack, which Sibte Hassan says was without consent from Umar but authorised by a local governor in Bahrain, was led by Mugheera ibn Abi Al-Aas and targeted against a port at Debal, near Karachi. Usman ibn Affan, the third Islamic caliph who ruled from 644 to 656 CE, considered an attack on Sindh by land. At that time Makran, a part of Balochistan, was already ruled by a Muslim governor.
When Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (reigned 661–680 CE) – the first ruler of the Umayyad dynasty – became the caliph, he sent several military expeditions: led by Abdullah bin Sawwar Abdi, by Rashid bin Umru, by Sanan bin Salmah (all names as per phonetics). All of these military raids ended in defeat. Sibte Hassan writes that when Hajjaj bin Yousef became the Governor of Iraq in 694 CE, he finally made up his mind to conquer Sindh and selected his son-in-law Muhammad bin Qasim to lead the invasion. Qasim registered many victories during 712-715 CE. The Muslim conquerors before Muhammad bin Qasim and after him have not stopped in their glories because Islam requires Muslims to conquer all the lands. The Quranic verse 8:39 commands: "And fight them until there is no fitnah and (until) the religion, all of it, is for Allah…" The word fitnah is translated as mischief but in Islamic literature, it means everything that is not Islamic. Similarly, the word "fight" in this verse is actually:Qatelu-hum, whose accurate meaning is "kill them."
The Kashmir conflict today is rooted in Pakistan's religious identity. The Kalima, or the words proclaiming one's faith in Islam, reads: La Ilaha Illalah Muhammad-ur-Rasoolullah. Its actual translation is: there is no deity but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger. But in Pakistan, Islamic clerics have translated it differently as reflected in the wildly popular slogan among Pakistani people: "Pakistan ka Matlab kya (What is the meaning of Pakistan), the chorus: La Ilaha Illalah Muhammad-ur-Rasoolullah."Nowhere in the Islamic world, Kalima is translated this way. Unless Pakistan's identity undergoes some radical transformation, it is unlikely that it will not view itself as the vanguard state of the Muslim Ummah. In Pakistan, the common understanding is that Pakistan has two types of borders: geographical and ideological. The ISI, which creates, nurtures and shields terrorist groups, considers itself as the ideological guardian of Pakistan, the second state to be established in the name of Islam, the first being Medina.
People of India must reconcile to the idea that the jihadist attacks in Kashmir will continue as long as Pakistan retains its identity in its current form. However, the Indian state needs to evolve a 100-year strategy against this known enemy. The strategy must be for India to behave like neighbours behave in our villages. When your neighbour hurts you, you shun eye contact and refuse to attend their wedding. When a neighbour encroaches onto your land, you push back. When your neighbour occupies your land, you break their nose. There is a slight distinction in the case of Pakistan. This enemy is not trained to sit idle, not even in its glories, not even in Ramzan. While India's strategy must be to empower Balochs, Sindhis, Kashmiris and Pashtuns, a successful strategy must be to break up Pakistan by striking at the heart of the enemy: the Punjabi elite, right in Punjab, across the shared international border.

People fall in love at fourth sight: study

Lovers need to meet at least four times before cupid strikes their hearts, according to a new study which suggests that love at first sight may be a myth.

Researchers from Hamilton College in the US gave pictures of people's faces to a group of young men and women. They wired their brains to monitors as the participants ranked the attractiveness of people in the photos. Participants were then shown the images for a second time. They rated the faces which they found attractive more highly.

The attraction was even higher on the third occasion and strongest of all on the fourth, researchers said. Monitors showed extra activity around the excitement and pleasure centres of the brain, 'dailystar.co.uk' reported. "Much to their surprise, people often find themselves drawn to individuals after multiple encounters, even when there was no initial attraction," said Ravi Thiruchselvam,
psychologist at Hamilton College. "Cupid's arrow is often slow to strike. It may be
attributable to the gradual change in attractiveness from repetition," he said.

India must declare Uri attack as an act of war by Pak: Expert

Sqn Ldr Vijainder K Thakur (Retd), a seasoned IAF fighter pilot, suggests a three-pronged strategy to avert Uri-style attacks.

Bengaluru: With the mortal remains of martyred soldiers in Uri being given a befitting final farewell at different parts of the country, the top military brains and the leadership are brainstorming ways to neutralise future terror strikes and also weighing options for a 'befitting response.'

The recent calculated strikes by terrorists on India's military establishments have exposed India's security apparatus.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi from Delhi over phone on Tuesday, Sqn Ldr Vijainder K Thakur (Retd), a seasoned Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter pilot, suggested a three-pronged strategy to avert Uri-style attacks.

The military expert with sharp domain knowledge says that India should foil Pakistan's low-intensity war through introspection, addressing shortcomings and through forceful leadership.

"India can prevent future attacks from across the border by adopting the following three simple, non-escalatory measures. The government should allow the Indian Army and the IAF to use armed helicopters over unpopulated areas in close proximity of the LoC. Such use would allow the Army to plug infiltration routes more effectively," says Sqn Ldr Thakur (Retd).

Army must be given a free hand to plug infiltration

According to him, as a second step, the Army must be given carte blanche to stop infiltration.

"Intelligence on planned infiltration should be verified using ISTAR (Information, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) assets. If confirmed, the LoC in the sector must go live with small arm fire, artillery fire and special operations to thwart the infiltration," says the former pilot-turned-author.

As the third solution, the ace Jaguar pilot says that the Indian Army (following a Pathankot-like strike) must have all the freedom to retaliate immediately in whatever manner it feels best within the sector used for infiltration.

"The Army should have clearance to strike targets up to 60-km deep using rockets," says the former pilot who served the IAF from 1974-1994.

He felt that the men who crossed from the Line of Control (LoC) could have been called as 'ISI-trained war-fighters' instead of terrorists, which could have helped to pin down the Pakistan Army.

"If India still wants retribution, the best approach would be to declare the Uri attack as an act of war by Pakistan. Successive Indian governments have termed cross-border attacks on Indian military installations as terrorist strikes, in order to duck the responsibility to respond to them," says Sqn Ldr Thakur (Retd), who was part of IAF's Jaguar ground attack stream.

Poor response action plan in place

Pointing out the some of the 'grievous mistakes' made by India and its armed forces that led to the massive loss of lives in Uri, he said there was no response action plan in place, despite the Pathankot experience.

"There was no coordinated response to intelligence of a planned infiltration. ISTAR assets were not deployed to confirm the intelligence and thwart infiltration using artillery fire," says the author of the just-published book 'Triumph in Surrender: A Gathering of Karamvir Yodhas.'

He said the security at Brigade HQs was extremely lax despite an alert, which helped the attackers to inexplicably breach the perimeter defences without being challenged.

"It's likely that many senior army officers' heads will roll on account of the above lapses," says Sqn Ldr Thakur (Retd), 62 years old, hailing from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh and now settled in Delhi.

'Change in policy' towards Pakistan, will be given stern message: MoS Defence

Underlining the perception that it will not be business as usual with Pakistan after Sunday's Uri terror attack, Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Ramrao Bhamre said India has "changed its policy" towards its western neighbour.

He also said Pakistan will be given a "stern message" in the wake of the terror attack that left 18 Indian soldiers dead and 30 injured.

"I can assure the nation that the culprits will not be spared, we have made it clear that they will be given a befitting reply," Bhamre said in an interview to IANS, adding that an appropriate response was being discussed at a "very high level".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also made it clear that it was a heinous crime and that the perpetrators will not go unpunished," he added.

"Pakistan has a history of fomenting trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. In spite of this, we tried to resolve the issue peacefully, but we have realised that Pakistan is not sincere towards peace. We (Government of India) have changed our policy," said Bhamre.

Bhamre, who described the September 18 attack as a "cowardly act", noted that the government has already initiated moves to convince the international community to "isolate" Islamabad diplomatically on the issue of terrorism, adding the "message to Islamabad should go from the global community".

"Sushmaji (External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj) is likely to raise the issue in the UN General Assembly," he added.

"Even the United States some time ago agreed that Pakistan is a haven for terrorism. If this is so why not isolate it? That's our policy today after the Uri attack. So, why not give a stern message to Pakistan," Bhamre told IANS.

The US last month said that it had consistently raised its concerns at the highest level of government in Pakistan on the need to deny safe haven to extremists.

Bhamre admitted there is a lot of "anguish" in the country over the dastardly terror strike which the Army has blamed on the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.

Uri attack: India to declare Pakistan state sponsor of terror, may launch punitive strikes

There may even be a punitive strike in response to ceasefire violations and infiltration. The time of retribution and place will be of India's choosing, top sources in the government told India Today.

Hardening its stance on terrorism in the wake of Sunday's attack on an Indian Army base in Uri, India is actively considering imposition of material damage on Pakistan. There may even be a punitive strike in response to ceasefire violations and infiltration.

The time of retribution and place will be of India's choosing, top sources in the government told India Today after Prime Minister today chaired a high-level meeting to frame India's response to yet another attack by Pakistan-based terrorists.

Talking about the other measures deliberated upon at the PMO's meeting, the sources said diplomatic talks with Pakistan may now be off the table. There may not be any dossier diplomacy.

Sources also said PM Modi has given his nod to diplomatically isolate Pakistan at every international grouping in the wake of the Uri attack.
MoS Defence Subhash Bhamre has attacked Pakistan army and said that it is to be blamed for Uri attacks. He said, "Jaish-e-Mohammad couldn't have operated without Pakistan army's support."

He said, "We will call for diplomatic isolation of Pakistan on international stage."
The action plan is as follows:

1. Declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terror

2. Scale down diplomatic ties with Pakistan

3. Scale down economic ties with Pakistan

4. Punish Pakistan along the LoC for infiltration and ceasefire violation
5. There is likely to be bombing of Pakistani posts along the LoC, but not immediately

The government feels all political parties are united on teaching Pakistan a lesson. Hence, executing the plan to make Pakistan bleed may not be a hindrance, the sources said.

"DEFENCE, INTERNAL SECURITY TOP PRIORITY"

Defence and internal security will be top priority of the government. The Pakistani posts that aid infiltration will be punished.

The Ministry of Home Affairs will strengthen internal security grid across Jammu and Kashmir for operations to be carried out. In fact, the government will launch a simultaneous diplomatic and economic offensive against Pakistan.

MORE DETAILS

Deliberations also took place on India declaring Pakistan a terror sponsor state. India will work on UN and other world bodies to declare Pakistan a state sponsor of terror.

These options are at a discussion stage. A final decision is likely to be taken very shortly, the sources said.

Don't install iOS 10 in iPhone 6, 6 Plus and SE — here's why

Update was roll out to 18 Apple Devices

Every time Apple brings out an upgrade to its iOS, owners of some iPhone and iPad models are put on hold to get an access to it. However, this time iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone SE are being affected from the upgrade.

On September 14, Apple released its newest version of operating system, the iOS 10. The update was rolled out to at least 18 Apple devices, including iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPod touch 6th gen, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad 4th generation and iPad Air, iPad Air 2, and iPad Pro devices.

T-mobile CEO John Legere warned T-Mobile customers to not to install Apple’s iOS 10. He claimed that the upgrade is causing iPhone 6, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE units to lose connection to the T-mobile network.

His statement came after customer complained following T-Mobile’s latest carrier update, 25.1. Though, initially it was believed to be the carrier update fault, Legere claimed that is not the case.

According to a report by macrumors, Apple is working to resolve the issues faced by T-mobile customers, while in the meantime, T-mobile has advised its customers, who had installed iOS 10 and facing issues, to restart the iPhone each time it loses connection.

Moreover, on the day of its release, iOS 10 was reported to brick certain iPhones and iPads. Later to which, Apple pushed an upgrade of iOS 10.0.1 to help resolve the issue.

Recent True Incident Of PM Modi’s Life; After Reading This Story You Will Just Say ‘Proud Of You Mr. PM’

This picture taken after the historical win of Narendra Modi became the poster in the Indian Political History. Probably there is no person who hasn’t seen this picture. Apart from Modi and his mother there is one lady standing with a plate. Yes, she is Nikunjben, niece of Narendra Modi and daughter of Prahlad Modi, younger brother of our Prime Minister.

In a very unfortunate incident, Nikunjben passed away last week following a prolonged heart problem. The news of her illness reached Modiji when he was in G-20 Summit in China. After his return to India he immediately called his brother to inquire about her health, only to hear that she passed away. His tight schedule did not even permit him to go to her funeral ceremony, but he inquired and spoke to his brother again after the funeral for his niece.

Many people in the government did not know about this incident. But during the Kashmir meeting, many observed that Narendra Modi’s eyes were wet, when asked they found out that his niece had passed away. Nikunj and her family were not financially strong, they lived in a small rented house and her husband worked in a private company. In order to support her husband Nikunj did tailoring and took tuitions to school children. In spite of being the niece of Prime Minister himself, she never used her position to get favours from any government authority. She had not even told anyone that she was related to Narendra Modi. In a time where we mostly hear people misusing their position to make money, the way Narendra Modi’s family has kept their identity so low is something we need to appreciate. Even after hearing such sad news, Modi did not take one day holiday to visit her but instead attended back to back summits trying his best to get work done.

There seem no words to describe the commitment, hard work and dedication of Modi towards our country. We only cab wholeheartedly pray God to give him more strength and energy and take India to great heights.

After reading this story your heart would surely say these words ‘Proud Of You Mr. PM.’

Needling India yet again, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today dedicated Ei-dul Azha to the “supreme sacrifices” of Kashmiris and said Pakistan will continue doing so till the Kashmir issue is not resolved.

“On this day of Eid, we cannot forget the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir too. The people of Kashmir, facing Indian atrocities, have sacrificed their third generation to achieve their right to self-determination.

Freaky Ali box office collection day 3: Nawazuddin Siddiqui film drops in numbers.

Nawazudding Siddiqui's solo film Freaky Ali continues to do low business at the box office even on the third day of its release. The film which opened to low figures on Friday managed to rake in only Rs 540 cr at the box office by its second day. Freaky Ali had an occupancy of only 10-15% on its first day, which has not improved despite its third day, Sunday being a crucial one for its business. The film has been made on a low budget of Rs 19 cr. It has been directed by Salman Khan's brother Sohail Khan and also stars Amy Jackson and Arbaaz Khan.

The film's falling profits are disappointing despite the public appreciating Nawazuddin's solo act. He is apparently pulling the entire film on his shoulders. While Sunday did not provide any respite to its collections, many are expecting some improvement over the week. Considering the makers are promoting the film as an Eid release, we hope the numbers rise on the two festive days of Monday and Tuesday.

Freaky Ali is a comic-drama where Nawazuddin Siddiqui is playing a common man trying to excel in the game of golf, which is mostly considered a rich man's game. Due to its specific plot, the film targets a certain audience. The highlight of the movie remains Nawaz's performance. Salman Khan had in the past days promoted the film at several events. Azbaaz Khan also has a supporting part in the film, though many believe he could've done better if his part was written well.

The Viral Magic critic , in her review for Freaky Ali wrote, "There's a 'message' that's dinned into us via Nawaz's 'ordinary' man. That no one, even a guy who hawks undergarments at a road-side stall, is worthy of contempt. That golf may be seen as a sport for the wealthy, but there's no stopping anyone from becoming a champion. All you need is skill. And will. The poor vs rich clash is set up for laughs, and we are amused to begin with, but then the amusement dries up.The one person who keeps us watching is Nawaz."

Freaky Ali got less number of screens as compared to the other big release this weekend - Baar Baar Dekho. Though Baar Baar Dekho is also struggling to get good numbers at the box office, it is at least doing better than the Nawaz film.

UAE bans Samsung Note 7 on flights

Korean electronics giant Samsung has urged consumers around the world to stop using Galaxy Note 7 smartphones immediately and exchange them as soon as possible, as more reports of the phones catching fire emerge.

Maswings said passengers were not permitted to turn on or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 while on board with immediate effect.

The company has confirmed 35 cases of its devices catching fire, majority occurring while the battery was being charged.

For Samsung, which prides itself on manufacturing prowess, the scale of the recall is expected to be unprecedented.

Thai Airways has reacted decisively to the news of a total worldwide recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. But, obviously, you’ll have say good-bye to receiving a “safe” Galaxy Note 7 when it becomes available.

The mammoth recall of close to 2.5 million devices and their subsequent replacement with brand new models according to analysts could cost Samsung almost $5bn.

“Our number one priority is the safety of our customers, which is why we’ve worked hard to provide new replacement Note7 devices as quickly as possible”. It voluntarily issued a recall last week for 10 markets, including South Korea and the United States, and it said it was expediting shipments of replacement phones to customers in the United States. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them now. Samsung is now undertaking a massive voluntary recall programme to replace all the 2.5 million devices sold since the Note 7’s launch in August.

Samsung released the jumbo smartphone on 19 August.

Considering the U.S.is Samsung’s biggest smartphone market, the company wants its customers to replace their existing potentially faulty units.

The recall comes at a crucial time for Samsung, as its rival Apple just announced its own latest versions of the iPhone.

Somnath Trust to deposit 6 kg gold under Modi govt’s Gold Monetisation Scheme

The Somnath Trust, which met here today, decided to deposit about 6 kg gold under the government’s monetisation scheme. (Reuters)
The Somnath Trust, which met here today, decided to deposit about 6 kg gold under the government’s monetisation scheme.
“Glad that Somnath Trust decided to deposit about 6 kg gold under Gold Monetisation Scheme of Government of India,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the meeting, tweeted.
The Board of Trustees met at the official residence of Modi to discuss a variety of issues.
At the meeting chaired by BJP veteran L K Advani, the Prime Minister stressed the need to develop Somnath as an ancient heritage pilgrimage as well as a tourist destination.

Djokovic deciphers Monfils, faces Wawrinka in US Open final

Novak Djokovic's strange US Open path took another odd turn as the defending champion defied stultifying humidity and the controversial tactics of Gael Monfils to book a title showdown with Stan Wawrinka.

World number one and defending champion Djokovic prevailed 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-2 in a bizarre semi-final last night that saw 10th-seeded Monfils roundly booed and accused of not trying.

Third-seeded Wawrinka withstood an early onslaught from sixth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan, asserting himself in the later stages to claim a 4-6 7-5 6-4 6-2 victory.

Although Djokovic holds a 19-4 record over Wawrinka, including two victories since the Swiss player shocked him the French Open final last year, Wawrinka welcomed the chance to take him on again.

"To play Novak again it will be very special," he said. Djokovic admitted he was "completely caught off guard" when Monfils, down 0-5 in the first in 15 minutes, stood lackadaisically in the court and began chipping the ball back.

The strategy paid off as Monfils reeled off three games in a row. "If I would get to the net he would go for the passing shot and hit some impossible gets and balls. But that's Gael," Djokovic said.

It was Djokovic who emerged with the set, however, and as the Serbian star raced through the second Monfils's interest again appeared to wane.

By the sixth game the 30-year-old had won just nine points, which he managed to nudge into double figures by the end of it. Monfils, playing in only his second Grand Slam semi-final after making the last-four at the 2008 French Open, theatrically hobbled off the court and was jeered.

He was booed again by sections of the 20,000-strong crowd as he dropped the first game of the third set. Monfils said his tactics were a deliberate attempt "to get inside his head".
A more orthodox approach saw Monfils break back for 2-2 and again for 4-2 in a third set that saw Djokovic receive treatment on his left shoulder.

Although Djokovic saved one set point, and gave himself three break chances in the ninth game, Monfils was able to extend the match, marking the moment with a mighty roar to which Djokovic responded by ripping off his shirt.

"I think I should not have allowed him to come back to the match after two sets to love up and 2-love in the third," Djokovic said.

"He started believing in himself. I think the crowd disliked his efforts towards the end of the second set. I think he felt like he needs to step it up and start to play better, which he did."

After giving back an early break in the fourth Djokovic had treatment on his right shoulder, but he broke twice more to close out the win.Djokovic arrived at the semi-finals having played just two complete matches in five prior rounds after a walkover from one opponent and the mid-match retirements of two others.

Wawrinka's arduous path to the title match included saving a match point in the third round. He's spent 17 hours and 54 minutes on court. Nishikori, coming off his own five-set quarter-final triumph over world number two Andy Murray, seized the initiative with a near flawless first set.

He broke Wawrinka again to open the second, but the Swiss was gradually beginning to find his range and regained the break. After saving a bevy of break points, he broke in the 12th game to level the match at two sets apiece.

After taking the third and breaking Nishkori at love for a 2-0 lead in the fourth, Wawrinka appeared to be on his way. Nishikori's last gasp was a break in the fifth game, but a quick break back and a hold at love and Wawrinka was back in charge.

"He dictated play early tonight, put pressure on me and gave me no time," Wawrinka said.
"I had to wait and fight and make him uncomfortable. He got tired and I started to be more aggressive."

Wawrinka, who was in the US Open semis for the third time in four years, was delighted to finally make it to the final. "I am really excited," he said. "I have seen the final here on TV many times, watching Roger, Rafa, Novak."

Apple iPhone 7 Plus has 3GB of RAM reveals benchmark

Apple introduced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones earlier this week. As usual, Apple did not reveal any details about RAM in these phones, now Geekbench listing has revealed 3GB of RAM for the iPhone 7 Plus, as rumored earlier. This makes it the first iPhone to come with 3GB of RAM.

These new iPhones have Apple’s custom A10 Fusion SoC that has two high power cores for tasks that need maximum performance, and other two low performance cores for simpler tasks. Apple already said that the slower cores will consume one-fifth the power of the high performance cores.
The listing also reveals that the two bigger cores are clocked at 2.23 GHz. The smaller cores will be clocked at 396 MHz, according to a recent Geekbench listing of iPhone 7 that also has the same processor. It also revealed 2GB of RAM for iPhone 7.
More RAM in the bigger iPhone 7 Plus model will be useful since it has dual rear cameras and uses software methods for new zoom and depth-of-field features.
Apple started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in over 25 countries today. It will ship in these countries starting from September 16th, Friday.

Japan confirmed Netaji’s death to US within weeks: UK website

Japan had confirmed to the US within weeks about the death of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in a plane crash in Taiwan in 1945, a UK website set up to document evidence on the circumstances of the freedom fighter’s demise claimed today.
Bosefiles.info says Japan’s communication to the US in 1945 was an interim report and a prelude to the final report handed over to the Indian government in 1956.
The information had been sought by Lord Louis Mountbatten as commander of Allied Forces in India (then under British rule) and South East Asia.
The Commander of the Allied Land Forces in the South West Pacific, US General Douglas MacArthur, through the Yokohama Division of the Japanese Army sought information from Japan on ‘Reported Death of CHANDRA BOSE” on behalf of Mountbatten on August 30, 1945 – 12 days after Netaji is believed to have been killed on August 18.
The latest disclosure is attributed to 91-year-old US-based Govind Talwalkar, the former chief editor of ‘Maharashtra Times’ who had received the documents from the National Diet (Parliament) Library of Japan on December 23, 2015.
In the “ad interim” report now published on the website, the Japanese government said Bose died “in an airplane accident” in Taihoku (Japanese name for Taipei).
The report says the 97-2 Model Japanese bomber carrying Bose reached the Taihoku Airfield (from Tourane, now known as Da Nang) at 13:00 o’clock.
It states: “After refuelling it took off at 14:00 o’clock. When it rose about 10 metres above the ground the propeller of the left side engine fell apart. The plane, shaking violently right and left, listed to the left and crashed against the mound at the end of the airfield. Fire broke out instantly at both the front and the rear of the plane.
“Bose, drenched in gasoline and covered with flame, emerged from a hole on the left side and toward the front of the fuselage.
“His aide H R (Habib-ur-Rahman) also crawled out of the machine, and endeavoured to extinguish the fire on Bose, who however had been severely burned, beside being injured at several places, including two or three cuts in the neck. Ten minutes after the accident, he was taken to the Army Hospital in Taihoku, and received treatment at 15:00 o’clock. His death came at 21:00 o’clock.”
In reference to the “disposition of the remains of Bose”, the report said, they were “placed in a coffin” on “August 20”, the “cremation” took place on “22 August” and the “funeral at the Nishi Honganji Temple, Taihoku” on “August 23”.
“The records provided by the Japanese National Diet corroborate the mass of evidence published Bosefiles.info to establish beyond all doubt Bose’s tragic death at Taipei on 18 August 1945,” the website said in a statement.
