Korean electronics giant Samsung has urged consumers around the world to stop using Galaxy Note 7 smartphones immediately and exchange them as soon as possible, as more reports of the phones catching fire emerge.
Maswings said passengers were not permitted to turn on or charge their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 while on board with immediate effect.
The company has confirmed 35 cases of its devices catching fire, majority occurring while the battery was being charged.
For Samsung, which prides itself on manufacturing prowess, the scale of the recall is expected to be unprecedented.
Thai Airways has reacted decisively to the news of a total worldwide recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. But, obviously, you’ll have say good-bye to receiving a “safe” Galaxy Note 7 when it becomes available.
The mammoth recall of close to 2.5 million devices and their subsequent replacement with brand new models according to analysts could cost Samsung almost $5bn.
“Our number one priority is the safety of our customers, which is why we’ve worked hard to provide new replacement Note7 devices as quickly as possible”. It voluntarily issued a recall last week for 10 markets, including South Korea and the United States, and it said it was expediting shipments of replacement phones to customers in the United States. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them now. Samsung is now undertaking a massive voluntary recall programme to replace all the 2.5 million devices sold since the Note 7’s launch in August.
Samsung released the jumbo smartphone on 19 August.

The recall comes at a crucial time for Samsung, as its rival Apple just announced its own latest versions of the iPhone.
