The US Defense Dept has allocated the US aviation firm Boeing an $81 million contract modification to supply the Indian Navy with 22 submarine-launched Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
The deal for over-the-horizon missiles is being initiated under Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales program. Boeing will supply 12 UGM-84L Harpoon Block II missiles and 10 UTM-84L Harpoon training missiles to India.
The missiles will be manufactured at several places in the United States, with the majority of them being in St Charles, Missouri. Some manufacturing process would also be done in the United Kingdom. The missiles are expected to be ready in June 2018.
